One of the first casualties in Iraq, Alyssa Peterson, was killed by "non-hostile gunfire". She refused to take part in the torture that occurred in the interrogation facility known as "the cage" after only two days. She complained to her superior that they were breaking Geneva convention, and a few days later was found dead after she shot herself with her own service rifle. The government covered it up (gover-up?) for a long while, but finally, under the Freedom of Information Act, Kevin Elston was able to recover much of the documents surrounding the case.
