World Pollution Map

This is a map of worldwide air quality. It seems like the US is doing quite well, although Australia is kicking pretty much everyone's ass. Brazil, Canada and Madagascar get an honorable mention as well.

Bug Super Highway

Clip from NPR describing how there is an unimaginable amount of insects flying really high in the sky.

Dehydrated Water

Alright, dry water. But still, it actually exists.
Oh snap, a picture!

The Hidden Rules of Blame

Of the 294 terrorist attacks in the EU in 2009, how many were by Muslim extremists?

One.

Nuclear Bombs

Are awe-full. These are some fantastic pictures of atomic bombs exploding. In the first one, notice the rebounding shockwave.

A Great Text Cleanup Program

This seems like something you would use rarely, but would be EXTREMELY HELPFUL when you do need it.

Lucky Charms

What's the worst part of Lucky Charms? No, not the leprechaun, having to eat real cereal to get to the marshmallows. Well, not anymore. Someone has taken the time to eat through literally tons of Lucky Charms to isolate the Marshmallows for your glutenous breakfast habits. Turns out they come in flavours.

Interrogation Techniques Led to Suicide

One of the first casualties in Iraq, Alyssa Peterson, was killed by "non-hostile gunfire". She refused to take part in the torture that occurred in the interrogation facility known as "the cage" after only two days. She complained to her superior that they were breaking Geneva convention, and a few days later was found dead after she shot herself with her own service rifle. The government covered it up (gover-up?) for a long while, but finally, under the Freedom of Information Act, Kevin Elston was able to recover much of the documents surrounding the case.  More information can be found in

Part 1
and
Part 2

Space Junk

There is a sh*t ton of it. However, keep in mind two very important things,

1. Satellites are very very very tiny, and space is very very very big and this is in no way close to being to scale

2. Even a 1 cm piece of space junk can take out a satellite.

Lego Loses Trademark Battle

Apparently Lego's aren't unique enough to warrant a trademark. This is one of a few very, very limited instances where I actually support a ridiculous trademark. Maybe I'm biased by Legos being the best toy a kid can have.

Circular Milling

You know how ants follow scent trails? Well they do. What happens if they accidentally go in a circle and the trail becomes a closed loop? You get a whirling mass of ant death. Apparently these ants will just follow each other in a circle until they all die.

Not A Road

The picture is not of a road
It's dead fish. Yup. Fo' Real.

(Also, I learned how to embed pictures! I know! It's kinda a big deal.)

Congratulations

I would like to present Japan with this award for the the Weirdest F*cking Country in the World.

Vagina Bubbles from Hell. WTF.

Transformers 3: A Plotline Emerges

This is an extremely low budget Russian unauthorized remake of transformers that looks infinitely better than the actual film.

Stock Market Program

Apparently people have been writing programs that buy and sell stock autonomously in patterns. Either someone has finally decided to have a lot of fun with the stock market or someone is making a penny every second, Office Space style. Either way, I fully support it.

Psyops

Creative and effective, the US convinced a village they had a vampire haunting and were able to get the Huk to move out because of it.

Rapper Flowchart

Damn it feels good to be a gangster

Oh Sh*t, Robots

Also, really awful slow motion sound.
